TRAVEL DIARY: PHUKET: DAY 1 & 2

Although I may still be recovering from the 8 hour jet lag, I think it's safe to say that it's not as bad as I expected it to be. After all, once you're on holiday you completely lose track of time! I'm spending the next few days here in Thailand with my mum and cousin and then I'm off to Singapore.

I wasn't able to post anything from my first day here as I was extremely tired after a full day of traveling, literally. The first day consisted of falling asleep in the sun (hopefully getting a tan!) and going to beach. Alongside going to fantastic, authentic Thai restaurants. It's great to come back to a place that you have been to in ages as you learn to appreciate it more and it's the best feeling when locals remember you. However, one thing that I had completely forgotten about Thailand is the humidity. Although it may be hot and sunny (except during monsoon season), the humidity is a completely different story!

Today, we went to Pa Tong Beach, which is a beach on the West coast of Phuket where all the markets are. It's very hectic especially in the afternoon, so if you're ever thinking of going I definitely recommend going in the morning. I treated myself to a facial (massage included) and also bought some typical Thai goodies, some for my friends too of course1 This whole trip is devoted to visiting local shops and buying/eating anything local, as I want to really indulge myself in the culture! Later during the day my cousin and I had the idea of going to the Tiger Kingdom, a place where you go and "play" with the tigers. As we weren't brave enough to go and touch the larger tigers, we took advantage of the 2 month old tigers. They are absolutely adorable and very playful too! As for dinner we went to this lovely restaurant called Silk, somewhere definitely worth going if you're in town! The food is amazing and the staff there is so friendly! It was such a perfect way to end the evening.
